21.05.2023 : TRCS WIPES THE TEARS OF MTWARA DISTRICT AFTER FLOODS DESTRUCTION

The Chairperson of Tanzania Red Cross, Mtwara region, who is also a member of the TRCS National Executive Committee representing the southern region Mr. Bryton Mkwambe, led the exercise of distributing various equipment to the victims of the floods that occurred on 4 April 2023 in Mtwara district villages whereby two neighbor villages were affected.

TRCS has been able to support 395 households by providing the following equipment, 395 Tapelines, 395 Blankets, 200 Kitchen Sets, 400 Hygiene Kits, 395 Soap Bars, and 395 Mosquito nets. Speaking to the people of Kivava village, Mr. Bryton first conveyed the greetings from the TRCS president Mr. David M. Kihenzile saying sorry to the people of Kivava village for the hardships they suffered and that TRCS will continue to be with them until their conditions return as before. He assured to the people that the village will continue to be under the care of TRCS until July 2023. Similarly, he urged the people of Mtwara to recognize and join Tanzania Red Cross Society which will lead to getting many action teams, and thus their communities will always be ready to face any disaster challenges. Lastly, Mr. Bryton thanked the IFRC for the help they were able to provide to the citizens of the Mtwara region.
